In April and May, it offers lovely deep pink purple flowers which are followed by heavy bunches of conical shaped orange to red coloured fruit. The fruit is rather sour if eaten straight off the tree but can be used to make delicious stewed fruit desserts when honey or sugar is added. The crab apples are also great for making jam and the
