A Silesia Fire Brigade Merit Medal Auction Sandrock received the Iron CrossConstructed of bronze with multi coloured enamels, on loop for suspension, the obverse consisting of a central blue enameled disc, overlaid by a golden yellow shield bearing a black Silesian Eagle, within a ring of red enamel bearing a gilt inscription of ZEMSK HASISK JEDNOTA SLEZSK ZA ZSLUHY (SILESIAN FIRE BRIGADE FOR MERIT), topped by a firemans helmet and axe, fully surrounded by a ring of green enameled leaf branches joined together at the bottom
