and then the serial number 9055 aligned with the longitudinal axis

This is a 1942 dated British 2 Inch Bomb Thrower MkII that would have been mounted on the inside of a Tank with the barrel protruding out. It was used during WWII primarily to create smoke screens. It is well marked and de milled according to guidelines provided by the BATF. It measures 24 inches in overall length. These are incredibly rare with few known examples.
