This is a very nice smooth Viking axe head with graceful lines and traces of the original edge. A professional archaeologist cleaned this axe and treated the iron against further corrosion. The shape of this axe is similar to the third one in the accompanying archaeological sketch. Some of the drawings show what the axe would have looked like with its handle. Like many Viking artifacts, this axe was found by a farmer
