A silver eight pointed rayed star; the obverse with a black central enameled medallion inscribed GOTT, EHERE, VATERLAND (German God, Honour, Fatherland), surrounded by a green enameled laurel and oak wreath; the reverse plain, with a vertical pinback, a barrel hinge, and a round wire catch; maker marked Schnitzpahn, Darmstadt on the reverse; measuring 83. 74 mm (w) x 82. 83 mm (h); weighing
