This is a charming, probably British, 18th century snuff box measuring 3. 25 x 1. 75 hinged lid. It is made from some dense grain tropical wood with a rich dark brown color, perhaps teak. The lid is inlaid with a silver anchor. Beautifully hand worn finish, a really nice example of what almost every Naval Officer carried at the time. Totally original and most engaging.
