This helmet most likely was originally worn by a German soldier assigned to a German fortification bunker due to the fact that the helmet was quite obviously painted with a thick layer of Deep Green Paint with concrete mixed in

and replacement Colt logo marked black grips

which with minor changes was basically repeated in 1831
