Calanthe Hizen Hybrids Violet Flowering Plants The first plants in cultivationThis seed strain of hardy orchid hybrids from Japan (Calanthe discolor x Calanthe aristulifera) forms basal rosettes of heavily pleated olive green leaves. The 8" flower spike emerges in early spring and contains up to a dozen flowers, each creamy to light pink with a darker pink purple lip. Each seedling is different, so the color may vary slightly. Calanthes are superb for very dark spots in the woodland garden.
