A finely made star consisting of a large silver Maltese cross with ball finials and hand etched arms, with clusters of five individual rays in each quadrant, with upward facing Gold swords affixed by prongs, obverse centre in Gold, featuring a Gold crowned Belgian lion on a black enameled field, a red enamel surround with Gold inlaid Motto of the Order L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE (UNITY IS STRENGTH), reverse with
