The black grip contained a National eagle with swas insignia recessed in the center area and an SS doppelte Siegrune (Double Sig/Victory Rune) (ᛋᛋ) roundel button inset at the top

This is a very nice example of a well worn early American Eagle Head Militia Officers Sword with the original and correct scabbard. The sword does not have manufacturer's information present. This example does appear to be Mexican American War era (1846 1848) used and is in great, field worn condition. The sword is all brass mounted with a standard "P" hand guard and a a very nice rounded pommel. The sword does show
