WW1 issue Mess tins sets (aka meat cans) comprising of oval aluminum tin with steel fold out handle. Every set is stamped "U. S." along with a maker code and World War One date. Each is comprised of an upper and lower section an oval lid held to the lower pan by a riveted steel handle that folds over to lock the lid in place. Quite different from
