Description

probably using uchiko powder

however the right side of the butt stock still bears faint original stock cartouches

the soldier was to use his own bayonet to deflect the enemy blade and the quillion - like the quillion on a sword - was intended to keep the enemy's blade from continuing downward

The tube measures 29 3/4" overall

We believe the badge to be a type of specialty rating or something of similar nature

This is a great example of the rare and hard to find U. S. M1917 Enfield bayonet, in good condition. This example appears to actually be a P1913 which is dated 1917. There is no difference between a 1913 and a 1917 apart from the markings and the oil hole in the pommel on a full production 1917. It comes complete with its original issue leather scabbard, which is also in very good condition. Bayonets by Remington
