Canada, Commonwealth. A Second War Memorial Cross to P.O Hawkey Republic of the 4th BattalionIn silver, a full size memorial cross, reverse impressed P. O. J. W. HAWKEY J19192, reverse marked BIRKS STERLING, and suspended from a STERLING bar with horizontal pin, lovely patina, very fine condition. Footnote: Hawkey was born in Ailsa Craig, Ontario. He enlisted at the Manning Pool, Toronto in 1941. He received his wings at St. Huberts, proceeded overseas in early January, 1942. He was killed in action on January 24, 1944, at the age of 23.
