Germany, Kriegsmarine. A U-Boat War Badge, By Friedrich Orth United Republic of Commander (3rd Class)(U Boot Kriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded zinc, the obverse consists of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a U Boat set against a hollow background. The reverse has a crimped hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch. It is maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 48. 7mm (w) x 39. 7 mm (h), weighing 18.
