A U-Boat War Badge, Unmarked Variation 1 Example, by Funcke & Brüninghaus consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac measuring 71 mm (w) x(U Boot Kriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a central U Boat situated over a hollow void, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering magnetic metal pinback meeting a flattened and rounded catch emanating from a circular plate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of
