his initial injuries described as "brush burns to his face and left hand" along with an "injury to his right ankle" and a "contusion to his left shoulder" were later re-assessed to be "minor cuts to his face and both hands"

Germany, Imperial. Two Iron Cross Badges, 1915 Auction Archive (Medalla de la Vieja Guardia)(Patriotisches Abzeichen). Constructed of bronze with enamels, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 27 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), a chip is evident to the outer enameled ring, in overall very fine condition. In silver with a patinated iron cross centre, measuring 19. 07mm, toned, very fine.
