Instituted 20 September 1866 by King Wilhelm I of Prussia. A Rupert cross paty, a laurel wreath lays between the arms, the obverse centre bears the cipher WR (Wilhelm Rex (King)) circumscribed with PREUSSENS SIEGREICHEN HEERE (PRUSSIAS VICTORIOUS WARRIORS), the 12 oclock arm bears a crown and the 9, 3 and 6 o clock arms bear the inscription GOTT WAR MIT
