VG 1 is rare and highly prized for its properties. The blade is stain resistant, will hold an edge and chips less than a damascus clad knife. The blade is made San Mai style; a traditional, high end Japanese blade making technique in which a very hard steel blade core is clad with softer steel on each side of the core. This maximizes the edge holding ability while still able to withstand
