Original U.S. Pre-WWI M-1887 Summer Tropical Sun Helmet - Size 7 U.S. Army a section of the 3rdOriginal Item: One Only. Much like our European cousins in the 1880s, the U. S. Army started to adopt sun helmets, especially for use during the hot summer months. These saw active service in the Spanish American War of 1898, especially in the tropical climate in Cuba. This helmet dates to just after the conflict, probably during the first 10 years of the 20th century. It has a lovely khaki color exterior, with the correct 4 panel construction and top
