Harry Epworth Allen (1894-1958), Howth gravel stone grit A one-of-a-kind hoeA 1930's view of Howth Harbour, by British artist Harry Epworth Allen. It depicts a quiet coastal scene, empty of people and clutter. Epworth Allen travelled in Ireland in the 1930s, mainly around Achill Island and along the west coast. Known as a landscape painter with a surrealist style, he exhibited with the Royal Academy for more than two decades from the 1930s to the 1950s.
