Another reason for this selection was that the bronze busts besides being costly did not for some of the Volk seem personal and lifelike and the plaster ones were somewhat more a natural-looking piece of artistic endeavor

On its introduction it was not fully standardized and came in at least five variations

(Volunteer Labor Service Bavaria)

Formed on the 18th of July 1917 and activated on the 22nd of August 1917 at Camp Edwards
